The members of Family Law Chambers are widely recognised as among the leaders in Family Law at the New South Wales Bar.
Family Law Chambers was established in February 2004
Family Law Chambers has thirteen members who conduct specialist practices focusing upon the Family Law Jurisdiction and associated proceedings, including property settlement, parenting proceedings, child welfare, child support, international child abduction proceedings and mediations.
Family Law Chambers was established by a group of barristers who practiced predominately in Family Law and, having agreed to occupy new premises immediately next door to the Family Court of Australia in Sydney, committed themselves to offering a practice aimed at providing a premium service in a specialist jurisdiction.
Following on this aim, Family Law Chambers was determined as a name. This was the first time in Australia that a group of barristers had departed from the traditional styling of the name of chambers to focus upon and present the specialist jurisdiction in which they each practiced.
Family Law Chambers was officially opened by the Honourable Justice Michael Kirby AC CMG on 6 May 2004. The twelve present members of chambers offer a broad range of experience and expertise covering all aspects of family law including aspects arising from family law disputes outside of the jurisdiction of the Family Court of Australia.
